In the small parish of Odiáxere, belonging to Lagos, find the best that nature has to offer. Bring your family and spend a day in the countryside by the stream that rises in the Monchique mountains and flows into the Ria de Alvor.
Enjoy the walk and get to know the Ria de Alvor, walk along the wooden walkways with breath taking views over the mountains, the beach and the birds that inhabit it. Picturesque Villages
We start with Burgau, a village belonging to the municipality of Vila do Bispo, with traces of the maritime life of its people. It is in the morning that you can watch the daily life of the Burgau fishermen as they descend the boats down the slab ramp towards the sea. If the day is not inviting for a dive in the sea, sit down on a café's terrace facing the beach and relax.
Alvor belongs to the municipality of Portimão, is surrounded by extensive beaches with dunes. It is a small village with a lot of history, where King D. João II passed by and one of the lands that the earthquake of 1755 shook. The remains of the Moorish castle downtown or the bell tower of the main church were some of the monuments most punished by the earthquake. Above all, it is its people who make this village a fundamental place to visit.
Ferragudo celebrates in 2020, 500 years since its foundation and it is with its white houses by the river Arade that it presents itself. It maintains the typical Algarve villa layout, with the cut out chimneys and the Moorish style terraces. Ferragudo is also a fishing village, where you should walk calmly and photograph every detail present at every corner. After visiting the village centre, get to know the seafront through the promontory path, starting in Ferragudo and ending in the village of Carvoeiro.
